"We hired L.O.Z. Construction to add a wrap around porch and sun room to our home. We we impressed with their reasonable estimate but were very impressed with the fact that they showed up when they were scheduled, worked efficiently, and finished the job in a very timely manner. We are very happy with the results of their labor. We have a lovely porch and sun room we are already enjoying on the nice days during the winter and look forward to spending more time on it when the weather is nicer. We would absolutely recommend L.O.Z. Construction to our friends if they have a building job."

Decks & Porches in Stockton, MO
A good porch changes how you use your house. We build decks, covered porches and sunrooms that get lived on for years, not ones that need work again in three summers.
Outdoor Living, Built Right
Porches Our Customers Are Still Sitting On
Built onto the house properly, flashed properly, and framed to carry real weight.
Decks fail in predictable places. Water gets behind a ledger board that was never flashed, footings heave because they never reached below the frost line, or the whole thing was built a size too light for how a family actually uses it. We build with those failure points in mind from the start.
We have built wrap-around porches, sunrooms, screened porches and plenty of composite decks around this area, and the part we enjoy is how much a good one gets used. One of our customers told us they were out on their new porch through the winter, waiting on the weather to turn so they could use it more.

Deck Trouble Worth Taking Seriously
Some of these are cosmetic. A couple of them are the reason decks end up in the news.
-
Bounce or Sway When You Walk
Movement means the framing or bracing is undersized. It rarely improves on its own.
-
Soft Boards Underfoot
Rot has already started. Once it reaches the joists, patching boards stops being enough.
-
Staining on the Siding Below
Water is getting behind the ledger, which is the connection holding the deck to your house.
-
A Wobbly Railing
The one part of a deck people put their whole weight against without thinking about it.
-
Posts That Have Shifted
Footings that never got below the frost line will keep moving every winter.

Built for Our Climate
What a Missouri Deck Has to Survive
Between the summer sun and the winter freeze, outdoor structures here take a beating.
Summer Heat and UV
Our sun fades and dries wood fast. Material choice matters more here than in milder places.
Freeze and Thaw
Footings set below the frost line so the structure is not lifted a little more each winter.
Water at the Ledger
Proper flashing where the deck meets the house is the single most important detail.
Shade and Screens
A covered or screened porch turns unusable July afternoons into somewhere you want to sit.
Sized for Real Use
Decks that host a family gathering need framing built for that, not for two chairs.
Railings and Stairs
Built to code heights and spacing, because this is where deck accidents actually happen.

Deck & Porch FAQs
Questions About Decks, Porches and Sunrooms
For most people here, yes. Composite costs more up front but you are not restaining every couple of seasons, and it holds up to our summer sun far better than wood. If budget is tight, a treated wood deck built properly still gives you many good years.
